Go beyond the "House" in Passive House to explore how the innovative standard applies to large buildings. With the majority of Passive House projects in the New York City region being relatively small residential projects, many have questions about the applicability of the standard to larger buildings. Although Passive House is certainly applicable to larger projects and a large variety of project types, these represent specific challenges.
Our workshop will provide an overview of the full palette of building types which meet the exacting passive house standards. From multi-family apartment buildings to offices, schools, archives buildings, and much, much more. Challenges particular to different building types will be highlighted. New buildings and retrofit case studies will be explored and the potential for application to New York demonstrated.
