The Truth About Energy Use in LEED And NYC Buildings
Monday, Jan 26, 2015
Since 2009, Local Law 84 has required annual benchmarking of energy and water use for both city-owned and private buildings of a certain size in NYC This presentation summarizes some key findings from the Local Law 84 data currently available, including those relative to the scope and quality of the reported data. We also cross-reference the Local Law 84 list with the database of known LEED-certified buildings in NYC to see how well LEED buildings are performing. The validity of performing such a comparison based on the information currently available will also be discussed. We will follow the discussion of energy data with a general discussion of energy use in buildings, and concepts for understanding and reducing energy consumption.
