Wind Energy Update: Google has pledged $5 billion for an ambitious offshore wind energy plan to deliver renewable power to the Middle Atlantic States and the Atlantic coast is estimated to have a wind energy capacity of 100,000MW, equivalent to 50 Indian Point nuclear power plants. At the same time, natural gas prices have fallen to historic lows. What lies ahead?

Is the Atlantic offshore power in our future or is wind in trouble? Are the prospects for onshore wind any better? What are the prospects for renewable energy to be major job-creating enterprise for our region.
