Sustainable Conference & Competition

Tuesday, Feb 22, 2011

The Center for the Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate is pleased to announce a two-day event designed to push the frontiers of innovation in sustainable real estate.

On February 22nd, the SBE will host "Building the Smart City", a conference bringing together diverse disciplines to discuss the realities and possibilities of a more sustainable urban future.

RSVP: Conference registration

On February 23rd, the SBE will launch the first graduate student competition focused on sustainable real estate development. Comprised of students from at least three disciplines, teams will be asked to generate a (re)development concept for a site that they select that promotes a triple-bottom-line approach to decision-making. The primary objective of the Competition is to foster innovative thinking among graduate students by connecting real estate development analysis, strategic planning, and social and environmental responsibility in a proposal that is replicable and achievable. Total prizes for the top three teams will be $40,000!

The deadline for student team registration is Friday, December 10th.
