Staying Clean When Going Green — An Update on the FTC's Green Guides and Policy Considerations and Strategies for Companies and their Counsel

The panel will discuss the Federal Trade Commission's recent revisions to the Green Guides, the implications of the Green Guides on the advertising industry and the challenges companies face in promoting the environmental benefits of their products, recent cases by the National Advertising Division, the advertising industry's self-regulatory program, involving environmental claims, as well as the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification system and recent lawsuits against LEED and challenges to green building standard setting laws. There will also be a discussion of the interplay between environmental and advertising law issues on the aforementioned topics.
