RGGI Update

Sign up for this informational meeting on the status of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) and examine key aspects of the first mandatory, multi-state program to stabilize and then reduce power plant carbon dioxide emissions. Be prepared for the publication of the proposed rule implementing RGGI in New York!

Topics include: the rationale for auctioning 100% of the carbon dioxide allowances; the region-wide emissions cap; and the offset mechanics for projects intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions outside the scope of the electric generating sector.

After lunch, attendees will break into two groups for further discussion. Group 1 will be a facilitated discussion for the environmental community on actions in support of carbon control (Room W-616) and Group 2 will be a facilitated discussion for renewable energy developers on carbon markets and renewable project development (Room W-617).
