Environmental commodity markets are playing an increasing role in voluntary efforts to mitigate global warming and promote renewable energy use. Consumers and businesses can tap green trading markets to negate (or offset) their impact on global warming. Today, voluntary green trading markets are in their infancy. Do they really reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create additional renewable energy resournces? Are consumers being educated about climate change in ways that build a foundation for future public policy? And what can be done to help such markets grow?
