Life Cycle Assessment
Please join us for this rare opportunity to hear Wayne Trusty, pioneer in the field of Life Cycle Assessment.
Mr. Trusty's presentation will provide an introduction into Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), which is a methodology for assessing the environmental performance associated with a product or process over its full life cycle. The use of LCA to determine the embodied environmental effect of materials, rather than relying on singular material properties such as recycled content or distances traveled after the point of manufacture is a key aspect of moving toward more performance based outcomes in sustainable design. Mr. Trusy will also discuss current LCA-based software tools such as the ATHENA Impact Estimator (IE), which evaluates whole buildings and assemblies, as well as a report on the recent addition of the life cycle inventory (LCI) data for the New York City centered region, which was completed with funding from the NYSERDA Building Research Program. Lastly Mr. Trusty will discuss the integration of LCA techniques and LCA-base support tools in the whole building rating and certification systems.
Special thanks to Trespa for sponsoring this event.
